WATERPROOFING

Waterproofing failure is one of the most common and most expensive defects in construction, largely because it's invisible until it isn't — by the time a leak shows up, the damage is often well beyond the membrane itself. We treat every wet area as something that has to be detailed and tested to AS 3740 before it's ever covered over, because a waterproofing defect caught after the tiler's finished is a far more expensive problem than one caught before. Where we're brought in to fix an existing failure, we diagnose the actual point of ingress rather than resealing the visible symptom, which is the difference between a fix that lasts and one that reappears in a different spot twelve months later. Warranty documentation is provided on every project specifically because waterproofing is the trade owners most often want proof of, not just a verbal assurance, when they're selling, refinancing or simply want peace of mind. Balconies, planter boxes and podium decks are where we see the most repeat failures, usually because the membrane detail at a junction or penetration was rushed rather than the general run of membrane itself. We pay particular attention to those junctions, because that's almost always where a waterproofing system actually fails.
What we do differently
Every wet area is detailed and tested to AS 3740 before it's ever covered over, not checked after the fact. Where we're fixing an existing leak, we diagnose the actual point of ingress rather than resealing the visible symptom, and warranty documentation is provided on every project, not just on request.
Why trust AFA
Our standards-based approach to AS 3740 compliance, combined with real experience diagnosing and rectifying existing waterproofing defects, means we're solving the actual problem, not just the visible one. ISO 9001 quality systems and family-run accountability since 1994 stand behind every wet area we deliver.
